Accessing EWU Databases from Off-Campus

If you are trying to access one of the libraries electronic resources (i.e. databases) from off campus, then you will be asked to log in to verify you a current student, faculty or staff member.  A window appear that will ask you fora user name and password.  Please follow these directions:

  • Students: Log in with your NetID username and password. This username/password is the same one that you use to log into campus computers, e-mail, NetStorage,etc. This in not your EagleNet account for class registration.
  • Faculty / Staff: Log in using your EWU email username and password.

    • Cochrane Library  
        
      Portal to access six databases for evidence-based medicine. Cochrane Reviews are available full text back to the mid 1990s, while others are indexes. Click on "i" icon for more information.
    • Health/Medicine Databases: CINAHL, MEDLINE & Health Sources (EBSCOhost)
      Search four health/medicine databases simultaneously: the Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature, MEDLINE, Health Source Consumer and Health Source Academic.
    • MEDLINE (EBSCOhost) -- 1949-present
      Comprehensive index to all aspects of medicine, covering around 5000 journals. This version includes some full-text articles.
    • MEDLINE (FirstSearch) -- 1949-present
      Comprehensive index to all aspects of medicine, covering around 5000 journals. This version does not contain full text.
    • PubMed -- 1949-present
      Comprehensive index to all aspects of medicine (covering around 5000 journals) back to 1949. Freely available from the National Library of Medicine, PubMed includes all MEDLINE content, plus additional selected biomedical sources.

    Consumer and Public Health Resources

    • Health Source - Consumer Edition (EBSCOhost)
      Full-text articles from around 80 consumer health magazines, plus health-related pamphlets and reference books.
    • MedlinePlus  
        
      Free, authoritative information from the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health, other government agencies, and health-related organizations. Preformulated MEDLINE searches are included to access journal articles.

    Occupational Therapy

    • OT Seeker
      Free, Australia-based database with abstracts of systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials relevant to occupational therapy. Trials have been critically appraised and rated to assist you in evaluating their validity and interpretability.

    Physical Therapy

    Databases with Health Sciences Related Content

    • American Physiological Society (APS) Journals
      Full-text access to American Journal of Physiology 1898-1977, as well as the seven individual sections of AJP from 1977-1997. Also provideds full-text access to six other APS journals, except for the most recent year.
    • Google Scholar  
        
      Use Google Scholar to search for scholarly articles across the Web. Note the citation tracking feature. Can be a good complement to subscription databases.
    • Health and Social Welfare Encyclopedias
      SAGE eReference online encyclopedias, including Encyclopedia of Cancer and Society, Encyclopedia of Disability, Encyclopedia of Epidemiology, Encyclopedia of Health & Aging, Encyclopedia of Health and Behavior, Encyclopedia of Health Care Management, and Encyclopedia of Social Welfare History in North America. Browse individual volumes or select the Advanced Search tab to search multiple encyclopedias.
    • JSTOR
      Full-text back files of over 2100 core scholarly journals in the arts, business, humanities, sciences, and social sciences, from the first issue up to 3-5 years ago.
    • PsycINFO (EBSCOhost) --1806-present
      "The largest resource devoted to peer-reviewed literature in behavioral science and mental health" according to its vendor. Indexes over 2,500 journals (in dozens of languages) going back to the 1800s, plus selected book chapters, books, and dissertations.
    • Science Citation Index Expanded (Web of Science) -- 1995-present
      Indexes articles and analyzes citations from over 8,500 scientific journals back to 1995. To limit to just the sciences, scroll down and under the Current Limits, uncheck the box for Social Sciences Citation Index.
    • SportDiscus with Full Text (EBSCOhost)
      Comprehensive database for sports, fitness, sports medicine, and physical education. Full-text articles from around 550 journals and magazines, plus selective indexing for around 1500 titles. Also indexes book chapters and conference proceedings.

    Find a Particular Journal, Magazine, Newspaper

    • EWU Library Catalog
      Search to see if we have a particular journal online, in print or microfilm. Carefully note date ranges available. If online, offers links to the databases. If print or microfilm, note the call number and format for the year you need.
    • Electronic Journals A-Z
      This resource will tell you if a particular journal, magazine or newspaper is available full text in any of our databases. However, it does not know what we have in print or microfilm.
