Introduces the fundamentals of information literacy: locating, critically evaluating, and ethically using information. Emphasizes information disorder, bias, and media literacy, while focusing on the skills to evaluate the information surrounding us as consumers and citizens. Along with information and media literacy skills, students develop their critical thinking skills and how to communicate effectively.

LIBR 210: Introduction to Academic Research

Pre-requisites: None
This course provides the fundamental concepts of information literacy, the research process, and ethical use of information in academic context. The focus is on developing practical skills for conducting independent research in liberal arts and social science. Hands-on activities are integrated to teach effective search strategies and the use of library resources to select and evaluate information.

LIBR 220: Information Literacy for Health Majors

Pre-requisites: English proficiency.
This course introduces nursing students to information literacy concepts and the research process in the Health Sciences by teaching effective search strategies and how to select and evaluate information.
