Interdisciplinary Periodical Databases
The following general interdisciplinary databases contain only scholarly journals or provide a feature that allows you to limit search results to scholarly or peer-reviewed journals:

- JSTOR This link opens in a new windowBack files of core scholarly journals in the arts, business, humanities, sciences, and social sciences, from the first issue up to 3-5 years ago.
- Scopus This link opens in a new windowIndexes articles and analyzes citations from 20,000+ journals in the sciences and social sciences back to 1970, though some are as far back as 1788. Search this database in lieu of Web of Science.
Subject-Specific Periodical Databases
The following databases relate either to a specific discipline or encompass several related disciplines. Most provide an option for limiting search results to scholarly or peer-reviewed journals only. Note that not all citations will have full text, but virtually any journal article can be obtained through our libraries given an accurate citation and sufficient time.
- America: History & Life with Full Text (EBSCOhost) -- 1954-present This link opens in a new windowA comprehensive database for U.S. and Canadian history from prehistory to the present. Materials include history journals, book reviews from core history journals and relevant dissertations.
- Biological and Agricultural Index Plus (EBSCOhost) -- 1983-present This link opens in a new windowPopular magazines and scholarly journals on biology and related disciplines, dating back to 1982. About half of the collection focuses on agriculture.
- Business Source Complete (EBSCOhost) This link opens in a new windowArticles from periodicals (including peer-reviewed journals) on all aspects of business. Contains books, plus reports, papers and company profiles. Selected titles go back as far as 1886, but most begin in the 1990s.
- CINAHL Ultimate (EBSCOhost) -- 1937-present This link opens in a new windowCINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) indexes journals as far back as 1937 and provides full-text for over 2,300 journals. Also includes books, dissertations, conference proceedings, research instrument descriptions, and evidence-based care sheets.
- Communication & Mass Media Complete (EBSCOhost) This link opens in a new windowScholarly articles, trade publications and more in the fields of communications, mass media and related subjects. Selected core titles are indexed back to the first issue.
- EconLit (EBSCOhost) -- 1969-present This link opens in a new windowIndexes articles on economics issues from journals and magazines, dissertations, books and working papers.
- Education Research Complete (EBSCOhost) This link opens in a new windowJournals and magazines along with books and conference papers. Coverage dates vary, but a few titles go back to 1975.
- ERIC: Educational Resources Information Center (FirstSearch) -- 1966-present This link opens in a new windowComprehensive U.S. Department of Education database, indexing journals and magazines, as well as books, videos, conference papers and technical reports. Links to full text ERIC documents.
- GeoRef (EBSCOhost) This link opens in a new windowDatabase for geology and geosciences. Indexes and summarizes relevant articles from journals, books, maps, conference papers, and dissertations back to 1669 for North America and 1933 for the rest of the world.

- Historical Abstracts with Full Text (EBSCOhost) -- 1954-present This link opens in a new windowHistorical Abstracts covers world history (excluding the United States and Canada) from the 15th century to the present. Find full text from hundreds of scholarly journals and more.

- SocINDEX with Full Text (EBSCOhost) This link opens in a new windowDatabase for sociology, with solid coverage for social work, social psychology, addictions, and criminal justice issues. Full text for journals dating back as far as 1908, with selective text and abstracts for others going back as far as 1895, plus numerous books, conference papers, and other monographs.
