Telling the Chases' Story: Eastern's 4th Annual Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon

Writing biography articles for James and Eleanor Barrow Chase

Introduction

Wednesday, February 27
10:00am to 3:00pm (drop-in event)
Lobby of the JFK Library

Welcome to the Eastern Washington University Library's 4th Annual Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon: Telling the Chases' Story!  As a community we will collaborate to write two articles about important civic and educational leaders in the history of Spokane and Eastern Washington University.  These will be biography articles--an expansion of a small existing article about James Chase, the first African American mayor of Spokane, and the creation of an article about his wife Eleanor Barrow Chase, former chair of the EWU Board of Trustees.  Learn more about our history, and help to share it with our community for the future!

The goals of this event are:

  • Create thorough, authoritative, and high quality Wikipedia pages about James and Eleanor Barrow Chase
  • Learn about the history of Eastern Washington University and the important roles that the Chases played at Eastern
  • Learn about Wikipedia: how to edit it, how articles are created, what makes a good article
