Using Video
This guide is designed to help you find video in your research for information and include video in your teaching and presentations. Most of the sources are web-based so the videos and clips are accessible and many are re-usable.

Library Video Databases
- Academic Video Online (AVON) This link opens in a new windowDocumentaries, feature films, performances, interviews, news programs and newsreels, demonstrations, and raw footage.
- Kanopy Streaming Videos This link opens in a new windowOn-demand streaming video service with over 10,000 titles, ranging from feature films, television shows, and documentaries. Note: Most of the titles available are not listed in the EWU Library Catalog. If it says "request access," we do not have licensing for that title. Faculty can request access for their classes.

Searches YouTube, Vimeo and some other free video sources all at once. Click Search Tools to choose the length of time of video you’re looking for, when posted, quality, whether close-captioned, or specific source.

- PBS Learning MediaFree digital media from public TV broadcasters for educational use. Standards are listed as well as grade level and specific subjects.
- WatchKnow"YouTube meets wikipedia" this site allows collaboration among users with filtering for quality educational videos.
- PAEC Teacher-toTeacher elearningStrategies about teaching ,particularly for English/Language Arts and Math/Science with guides and videos.
- Academic EarthVideo lectures from elite universities- subjects and themes are included.
Digital Repositories
- C-SpanSearchable by video/topic/speaker—and tied into transcripts. The Share > email button/feature (screen) allows cuing of start/end points for the portion of the video you want to view/send (in case you don’t want students to watch all 60 min. or 3 hrs. of a program.
- PBS- Public Broadcasting ServiceThis link searches only video on PBS. Regular link (pbs.org) may generate results that are text/links/etc. Note Frontline is a good source. Very often documentary programs such as Frontline or NOVA include excellent supplementary materials.
- TED Technology Education DesignCollection of speeches by notable persons in Technology, Education and Design
- Internet Archive of Moving ImagesThis library contains thousands of digital movies uploaded by Archive users which range from classic full-length films, to daily alternative news broadcasts, to cartoons and concerts. Many of these videos are available for free download
