How to Request Renewals

For interlibrary loan (ILL) materials only.

The lending library decides whether a renewal is allowed or not. Sometimes we receive books from libraries that will not allow renewals. This will be printed on the ILL label on the book. Sometimes we request a renewal and the lending library still replies no; we will do our best to get a renewal for you.

To request a renewal, call 509 359-2492 (leave your name, Eagle ID#, and book title) or email ewuill@ewu.edu

What Happens Next?

We (EWU Libraries) send the renewal request on to the lending library. Sometimes it takes a few days to receive a reply from the lender.

Remember that renewals are at the discretion of the lending library and sometimes the answer is no, even though a renewal request has been submitted. We will try our best for you.

If the answer is no:

You will receive an email saying that the renewal request has been denied. Please return the material promptly. If the item is still needed, we may be able to see if another copy can be requested on your behalf.

If the answer is yes:

You will receive an email with the new due date and your account will be updated accordingly.

Notes About Renewals

Please submit your renewal request no earlier than a week before the due date. This is to make sure you have as much time with the material as needed. Request a renewal too soon and you may lose any additional time.

To request a renewal, call 509 359-2492 (leave your name, Eagle ID#, and book title) or email ewuill@ewu.edu
