Placing Print and Physical Materials on Reserve

Course Reserves: Placing Print/Physical Materials on Reserve

Place materials (physical, print, etc.) on course reserve by completing the Instructor Reserve Service Request Form available on our website or complete a paper form.

You'll be asked to supply basic information including the course name and number, preferred loan period, reserve location, length of reservation, and a list of materials to reserve.

Source of Materials

  • For instructor-owned materials: Simply deliver your materials to the JFK Library. You may complete the request form when you arrive at the location or submit online prior to your visit.
  • For library-owned materials: Upon receipt of a completed request form, we will retrieve the material from our collection and place them on reserve.
  • For items not owned by the instructor or the library: Please fill out the Suggest a Purchase form to ask us to buy the material you need.

Loan Periods

  • 1, 2, and 3 hours (Materials assigned hourly loan periods do not leave the library)
  • 1, 2, and 3 days
  • 1 week

Want to show an EWU Libraries owned video to your class?   We advise placing the video on hourly reserve for the quarter or semester.

Notes

  • Instructors are notified when their material is on reserve and ready for student use.
  • Please allow up to two weeks for processing.
  • We at EWU Libraries do our best to protect reserve material.  However, placement of personal items on reserve is at the owner's risk.  The EWU Libraries are not responsible for lost or damaged items.  Personal items will be returned at the end of the reserve period.
  • Unless pickup has been arranged, items will be returned through campus mail.  If no mail code is indicated, materials will be sent to the instructor's mail code as provided in the EWU Directory.
  • The EWU Libraries reserve the right to perform processing necessary for placement of material on reserve, including attachment of date due slips, barcodes, and labels.  Some minor damage to the material may result.
  • Requests due to textbook shortages are given priority.  Please let us know if this is the case.
  • For course reserve questions, call the JFK Library Circulation Desk (509-359-7888).
