Library Instruction for Your Classes

To advance the educational goals of information literacy and critical thinking, the EWU Libraries offer virtual instruction, class and subject guides and online tutorials in library research methods.  To integrate library instruction into your curriculum, please contact:

Try to schedule at least one month in advance for a face-to-face library instruction session.  If you have a research-related student assignment, then please provide your librarian a copy of it to help with session preparation.

Finding eBooks

The Library Catalog contains all the eBook collections which the library subscribes.  If an item is available from the library, then it will have green colored text indicating it's available.  To access eBooks, follow these directions.

  • Click the green text (it typically says Online access) to call up the record for the item.
  • Under the View Online section, you'll need to sign in using your EWU Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.  If you have trouble, then contact the EWU IT Help Desk at (509) 359-2247.
  • Once logged in, you'll see links available to the eBook in whatever eBook collections they're available (see the pic below).
  • Some eBook collections may ask you to sign up for a free account before being able to read the eBook.

Getting Physical Books Delivered to You

EWU patrons who are outside the local (Cheney/Spokane) area (see the Summit Services page for who qualifies) can get library materials delivered directly to them.  Follow these steps to get materials:

  • Under the Get It section, log-in using your campus Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.
  • For EWU materials, click on Request EWU ItemIf we don't own it, then click on Place Summit Request.
  •  In the box for Non-JFK Pickup/Delivery, write the phrase Home Delivery.  It will let our staff know you need our home delivery service.
  • Our library staff will contact you via your EWU email to confirm your status and the address where you want to item delivered.
  • The library will send the item to you via FedEx and supply you with an pre-addressed label to return the item back to us.
  • Note: Summit materials are typically sent to Cheney first (typically 4-8 business days) and the item will then be mailed to your address.  Please take these time frames into consideration in your own research timelines.
  • For more details, please see the Summit Services pages.
